Welcome to this survey about performance management. It aims to gather information about the current state of performance management for future research and research directions.

We invite you to participate if you are working in the industry, are involved in software development, and at least 18 years old. The participation is voluntarily, and we treat all data confidental.

The survey takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete with approximately 20 questions. It consists of two parts of which the following first part is about the current state of performance management.

Notes about the data processing

With these notes, we want to inform you about the processing of your personal data if you participate in our survey. At the same time, we want to inform you about your rights according to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Data and Purposes

Your participation in this survey is voluntary which includes answering any question. In context of this survey, we record and store your answers to the questions. All data are treated confidential.

This survey aims to analyze current practices of performance management in software development and potential future research directions. For statistical analyses and correlations, answers to demographic questions (e.g., for the country) can include data which does not directly identify you, but can lead to conclusions about you. In case of non-demographic questions, usually no personal data is recorded. If the chosen answers or their wording can lead to conclusions about you, the processing of the answers is performed with your consent.

Based on the survey results, we are going to create anonymous evaluations without connections to you. We do not use your answers to rate you. Your answers are anonymized as soon as the evaluations are complete.

The survey results are documented and published only in anonymized form with the anonymized evaluations and without your name or information which can lead to conclusions about you.

Storage Period

Answers which can lead to conclusions about you are deleted when the answers are anonymized after completing the evaluations and at latest after 12 months.

Recipients

Only the joint controllers have access to your data which are stored on servers of the KIT and processed within the KIT. A transfer or processing of your data to countries outside of the EU do not take place.

Lawfulness of Processing

If you consent to the processing of your answers, the lawfulness for the aforementioned purposes and processing is given by your consent (Art. 6, Para. 1, a) GDPR). You may choose to not participate or end your participation at any time without penalty.

Your Rights

According to Art. 7, Para. 3 GDPR, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. The withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on your consent before your withdrawal. Your withdrawal means that we are not allowed to continue the processing in the future.
According to Art. 15 GDPR, you have the right to access your processed personal data; the purposes of the processing; the categories of personal data concerned; the recipients or categories of recipient to whom the personal data have been or will be disclosed; the storage period; the existence of the right to request from the controller rectification or erasure of personal data or restriction of processing of personal data or to object the processing; the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; where the personal data are not collected from the data subject, any available information of their source; and the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling and, at least in those cases, meaningful information about the logic involved.
According to Art. 16 GDPR, you have the right to obtain without undue delay the rectification of inaccurate personal data or the completion of incomplete personal data.
According to Art. 17 GDPR, you have the right to obtain the erasure of your stored personal data unless the processing is necessary for exercising the right of freedom of expression and information, for compliance with a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest, for archiving purposes in the public interest, or for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
According to Art. 18 GDPR, you have the right to obtain the restriction of processing if the accuracy of the personal data is contested by you; the processing is unlawful and you oppose the erasure of your personal data and request the restriction of their use instead; we no longer need your personal data for the purposes of the processing, but they are required by you for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims; or you have objected to the processing according to Art. 21 GDPR.
According to Art. 20 GDPR, you have the right to receive your personal data which you provided in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have the right to transmit those data to another controller.
According to Art. 77 GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular, in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or the KIT.

Cookies

In addition to the data mentioned above, cookies are stored on your personal computer when using our website. Cookies are small text files stored in your computer system by the browser used by you, through which we (the server of our website) obtain certain information. Cookies cannot execute any programs or transmit viruses to your computer. They serve to make internet offers more user-friendly, more effective, and quicker. It is distinguished between session cookies (transient cookies) and permanent (persistent) cookies.

Transient cookies are deleted automatically when you close the browser. They include in particular the session cookies. These store a so-called session ID, through which queries of your browser can be allocated to the joint session. They allow us to identify your computer when you return to our website. Session cookies are deleted when you log out or close the browser.

We use persistent cookies to track your completion of the survey and to avoid multiple participations by the same person.

Daten und Nutzungszwecke

Die Teilnahme an der Umfrage ist freiwillig, ebenso die Beantwortung einzelner Fragen. Im Rahmen der Umfrage erfassen und speichern wir Ihre Antworten auf die einzelnen Fragen. Alle Angaben werden vertraulich behandelt.

Die Umfrage dient dazu, aktuelle Praktiken im Performance-Management in der Softwareentwicklung zu analysieren und mögliche zukünftige Forschungsrichtungen zu ermitteln. Für statistische Auswertungen und Zusammenhänge können bei Beantwortung der Fragen demographische Daten (z. B. Land) ohne Sie direkt identifizierende Daten erfasst werden, die einen Rückschluss auf Ihre Person ermöglichen können. Bei der Beantwortung nicht-demographischer Fragen unserer Umfrage werden in der Regel keine personenbezogenen Daten erhoben. Sofern durch die Wahl oder Formulierung der Antworten ein Rückschluss auf Ihre Person möglich ist, erfolgt die Datenverarbeitung mit Ihrer Einwilligung.

Anhand der Umfrageergebnisse erstellen wir anonyme Auswertungen, die keinen Bezug zu Ihrer Person haben. Wir werden Ihre Antworten nicht zur Bewertung Ihrer Person nutzen. Ihre Antworten werden anonymisiert, sobald wir die Auswertungen beendet haben.

Die Dokumentation und Veröffentlichung der Umfrageergebnisse erfolgt ausschließlich in anonymisierter Form mit Veröffentlichung der anonymen Auswertungen, ohne Ihre namentliche Nennung und ohne Angabe von Informationen, die einen Rückschluss auf Ihre Person zulassen.

Speicherdauer

Antworten, die Rückschlüsse auf Ihre Person ermöglichen, werden mit der Anonymisierung nach Ende der Auswertungen gelöscht, spätestens nach 12 Monaten.

Datenempfänger

Nur die gemeinsam Verantwortlichen haben Zugriff auf Ihre Daten, die auf Servern des KIT gespeichert und innerhalb des KIT verarbeitet werden. Eine Übermittlung oder Verarbeitung Ihrer Daten in Länder außerhalb der EU findet nicht statt.

Rechtsgrundlage

Sofern Sie Ihre Einwilligung in die Nutzung Ihrer Antworten auf die Umfrage erteilen, ist die Rechtsgrundlage für die oben genannten Zwecke und Datenverarbeitung Ihre Einwilligung (Art. 6, Abs. 1, a) DSGVO). Die Einwilligung können Sie jederzeit mit Wirkung für die Zukunft und ohne Konsequenzen widerrufen.

Ihre Rechte

Gemäß Art. 7, Abs. 3 DSGVO können Sie Ihre einmal erteilte Einwilligung jederzeit gegenüber uns widerrufen. Durch den Widerruf Ihrer Einwilligung wird die Rechtmäßigkeit der aufgrund Ihrer Einwilligung bis zum Widerruf erfolgten Verarbeitung nicht berührt. Der Widerruf Ihrer Einwilligung hat zur Folge, dass wir die Datenverarbeitung, die auf dieser Einwilligung beruhte, für die Zukunft nicht mehr fortführen dürfen.
Gemäß Art. 15 DSGVO können Sie Auskunft über Ihre von uns verarbeiteten personenbezogenen Daten verlangen. Insbesondere können Sie Auskunft über die Verarbeitungszwecke, die Kategorie der personenbezogenen Daten, die Kategorien von Empfängern, gegenüber denen Ihre Daten offengelegt wurden oder werden, die geplante Speicherdauer, das Bestehen eines Rechts auf Berichtigung, Löschung, Einschränkung der Verarbeitung oder Widerspruch, das Bestehen eines Beschwerderechts, die Herkunft ihrer Daten, sofern diese nicht bei uns erhoben wurden, sowie über das Bestehen einer automatisierten Entscheidungsfindung einschließlich Profiling und ggf. aussagekräftigen Informationen zu deren Einzelheiten verlangen.
Gemäß Art. 16 DSGVO können Sie unverzüglich die Berichtigung unrichtiger oder Vervollständigung Ihrer bei uns gespeicherten personenbezogenen Daten verlangen.
Gemäß Art. 17 DSGVO können Sie die Löschung Ihrer bei uns gespeicherten personenbezogenen Daten verlangen, soweit die Verarbeitung nicht zur Ausübung des Rechts auf freie Meinungsäußerung und Information, zur Erfüllung einer rechtlichen Verpflichtung, aus Gründen des öffentlichen Interesses oder zur Geltendmachung, Ausübung oder Verteidigung von Rechtsansprüchen erforderlich ist.
Gemäß Art. 18 DSGVO können Sie die Einschränkung der Verarbeitung Ihrer personenbezogenen Daten verlangen, soweit die Richtigkeit der Daten von Ihnen bestritten wird, die Verarbeitung unrechtmäßig ist, Sie aber deren Löschung ablehnen und wir die Daten nicht mehr benötigen, Sie jedoch diese zur Geltendmachung, Ausübung oder Verteidigung von Rechtsansprüchen benötigen oder Sie gemäß Art. 21 DSGVO Widerspruch gegen die Verarbeitung eingelegt haben.
Gemäß Art. 20 DSGVO können Sie Ihre personenbezogenen Daten, die Sie uns bereitgestellt haben, in einem strukturierten, gängigen und maschinenlesebaren Format erhalten oder die Übermittlung an einen anderen Verantwortlichen zu verlangen.
Gemäß Art. 77 DSGVO können Sie sich bei einer Aufsichtsbehörde zu beschweren. In der Regel können Sie sich hierfür an die Aufsichtsbehörde ihres üblichen Aufenthaltsortes oder Arbeitsplatzes oder des Sitzes des KIT wenden.
